As I have stated, we would love to support the NDZ, but cannot do to the lack of pump outs provided by the state. Unless things have changed dramatically, there is not even an approved plan to add commercial pump outs no less the funding to build them. There is only one pump out that will fit a couple of our boats and that is in Bellingham, all the other commercial pump outs are either committed to the agency that operates them or lack dock length or draft for our vessels. Of course, while at Fishermen's Terminal in the winter we provide our own holding tanks and appropriate disposal of waste. We both know that pump outs are a requirement to successfully achieving NDZ status and the state says that all is good and fine with commercial pump outs. Of course, we all know this is an outright misrepresentation of the truth and facts show this. I sincerely wish those who were charged with NDZ outreach would have been listening and worked this out years ago. We would not be in this situation if this had happened.
