Plant DATE August 31, 1978 We have examined the two samples from the Houston plant by polarized light and scanning electron microscopy. Both samples con tain fibers that are possibly of the amphibole family of minerals from which commercial asbestos is derived. Our mineral references in the Baton Rouge lab do not give a perfect match with the Houston samples. This prevents us from arriving at a clear cut identification of the mineral type. We feel sure, however, that McCrone and Associates are better equipped to determine the fiber type and abundance in these samples.
