First Aid Squad The first aid squad has 12 members. Two to three members are available on each shift. This squad is quite small for the size of the plant. B. Transfer Plan The physicians and nurse have the authority to summon an outside ambulance. Injured or severely ill employees are taken to the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital or the St. Joseph Hospital in Parkersburg for definitive treatment. For specialized emergency care, there is helicopter service to the Burn Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In case of multiple casualties, both Parkersburg hospitals have disaster plans. Ambulance service is provided by the hospitals. Each hospital has five or six ambulances. The plant also has an ambulance which could be used if necessary. This ambulance has been used off site only one time since it was purchased. Company vehicles are used to take employees with minor injuries to the hospital. A representative time from injury to the provision of definitive care is 30 minutes. Dr. Power arranges for consultation and continuing care for employees with occupational illnesses or injuries.
