Walker SUBJECT: Asbestos - Free Joint Compounds August 2, 1971 There is increasing pressure to eliminate the use of asbestos, and we should do this where market performance permits such action. Are we in compliance with the current regulations on labeling of joint compounds? Apparently there is some confusion on this point, although I understand that we are in compliance. How quickly could we market an asbestos - free compound? I urge that we complete such a development through the field trial stage as rapidly as possible.
