His employment examination shows him to be a 24 year old negro, male, previously employed by City Ice Zc Fuel Co.' His weight was 176 lbs. and his medical history reveals old luetic history for which he had been taking "bismuth shots". This was repeated 10/14/43 and again showed IX stippled cells. On January 3, lp44 his weight.was Ip2 lbs, and he was complaining of pain in stomach, backache, with slight dizziness. Appetite good, bowels sluggish. Smear taken January 7, 1944 showed 13 stippled cells. On January 17, 1944 bis weight was I90 lbs, lead line on lower rt. incisor, and he complained, of drowsiness, insomnia, headache, abdominal pain and metallic taste in mouth, with blood smear shoving 12 s't* cells. Smear taken January 2? showed only 6 st. cells and lead line previously described still present. He has been under antiluetic treatment continuously. Smear for the next few examinations were as follows; 2/16/44 2/23/44 _ 5; 2/2Q/44 - 7; 3/2/44 - 3, and during these weeks he was asymptomatic and no lead-line noted. Again on March 17, 1R44 his count rose to 13 st. cells and on 'arch 21 it was up to 24 with complaints of abdominal pain, boa metallic taste, and ajnorexia. Smear taken March 27 again was down to 6 st. cells, Counts on April 3 the count was 0 st, cells and 4 st, cells on April 18, 1^44^ with complaint of weakness, dizziness, abdominal pain and metallic taste.
