1. GM joined the IHF in 1942 and may still be a member, thereby was a recipient of Ind. Hva. Digest, with article abstracts such as the 1949 one on the JAMA editorial on asbestosis and cancer. 1949 IHF proceedings lists GM hygienist Frank Patty as member of clin/tox committee, a GM exec Anderson on IHF Board of Trustees.
2. Publications on asbestos by GM's Castrop and Patty in Ch. 8 of my book
3. 1969 corresp. describes GM Inland Div. meeting with Johns-Manville people on asbestos health effects, just came to me late 1995 from Baron & Budd -- call Rob Struven 800-222-2766.
4. I heard and saw a (lost) 1979 GM position paper on substituting asbestos in brakes. By 1982 I was preparing to testify at a Congressional hearing and tried to upodate my knowledge. GM's chief DC lobbyist refused to tell me a thing because I'd been listed as a witness in a lawsuit somewhere. I gave them some good press in the NYT. too - the truth of what I said they didn't deny.
Ford Photocopy of IHF index card lists Ford as IHF member from 1947-1974.
