~*Dutc6, m CLARITE "DUTCH BOY" CLARITE is a barium-cadmium organic complex especially useful for the stabilization of clear vinyl extrusion, flooring and molded products. It is provided in two parts. CLARITE A is a soft white powder which is easily dis persible in a plastic mix. CLARITE B is a clear liquid, miscible with most of the vinyl plasticizers in common usage. CLARITE will give best results in vinyl plastics when the two components are used in the recommended proportion. Extrusion Compounds--The heat stability of "DUTCH BOY" CLARITE is outstanding. It is of special advantage in extrusion operations where it supplies maximum protection for the vinyl compound under severe heat conditions. Al though CLARITE has less lubricating action than is usually associated with barium-cadmium soaps, it has sufiicient lubricity to permit easy extrusion. HL1 iib ? cn * l B. Flooring Compounds--In non-asbestos filled vinyl flooring compounds, CLARITE A in conjunction with stearic acid Has proved to be an excellent stabi lizer system. In addition to assuring maximum heat stability during processing, its high clarity permits a wide choice of vivid colors. In a6be6tos-filled compounds also, the CLARITE A-stearic acid combination supplies the required degree of heat stability. The co-use of "DUTCH BOY" NORMASAL is strongly recommended for preventing discoloration due to im purities present in the asbestos. (2) Good Light Stability--CLARITE offers good protection against the dele terious effects of ultra-violet light. This property, combined with its excellent heat stability recommends it for many outdoor applications, such as clear garden hose. (3) Use with Plasticisers--CLARITE'S unusually high heat stability can be maintained in the presence of less Btable plasticizer types. This makes it possible for the compounder to use a wide range of plasticizers to impart desired charac teristics in the finished plastic product. These plasticizers include the organic ester types such as phthalates, adipates and sebacates, and the polymeric type. It is particularly recommended for use with the inorganic ester type plasticizers such as the aryl and aryl-alkyl phosphates. It also may be used very successfully with a wide variety of colorants. (4) Recommendations--Approximately 2% of CLARITE A and of CLARITE B, based on the weight of the resin, is recommended for general use. The two components mixed in this proportion are recommended for most types of flexible vinyl chloride compounds. CLARITE i6 particularly useful for extruded belting and tubing, flooring and molded products. UL1 U5T OG>' NATIONAL LEAD COMPANY i At l an t a , Ga .. General Offices 111 Broadway, Mew York 6, N.
