Re: TSCA 8(e) Substantial Risk Notice : Supplemental to Docket No. 8EHQ-0598373 ; Sulfonate-based and Carboxylic-based Fluorochemicals
To whom it may concern:
3M is submitting this notice to supplement its previous submissions on sulfonate-based and carboxylic-based fluorochemicals .
3M recently generated data, on behalf of the National Park Service, showing detectable
levels of the fluorochemicals in blood samples collected from nestling bald eagles=of the
Mississippi and St . Croix River Valleys of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
-
These data were generated as part of an inter-laboratory study, sponsored by the National Park Service, where common samples were split and sent to three independent labs for fluorochemicals analysis . To 3M's knowledge, data from the other two participating laboratories have not yet been generated.
We are notifying the EPA of these data to fulfill our TSCA 8(e) reporting obligations, and will provide a copy of the complete final report (compiling data from all three
laboratories) once it is made publically available by the National Park Service. If desired; the EPA can request draft data from the National Park Service prior to our final report submission .
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact Deanna Luebker, 3M TSCA 8(e) Coordinator, at (651) 737-1374 or diluebker(~mmm .com.
Sincerely,
c-K, ~ ~~ C.C~~
