Thanks for your letter of January 10th with the copy of Mr. (Jolts*s letter to Mr. Boudreau. In view of the fact that there is no reason to believe that any illness should arts referable to lead from the activities of the employee described* I do not consider it necessary to take any action unless some further information is brought to my attention. Thanks also for your letter of December 18th with Mr. Clark*s offer to straighten out any difficulties in connection with the Jersey Company mixing installations* It happens that at the moment we have no serious difficulties to correct. We have recently had occasion to discuss one or two of the mixing installations Which have not been entirely up to standard* and having had a reasonably satisfactory explanation from the .management at these plants as a reaction to some pressure which we brought to bear on them* 2 should prefer to take the point of view at present that they will cooperate with* us in the future rather than to start up any additional irrigation at this juncture. However* I shall bear In mind Mr* Clark*s position in the matter and If any further difficulties arise* I shall be glad -to cOmmtmicate with him through you. The difficulty haw been largely that refinery management in the Jersey Company has - beon .disposed to feel that we are trying to tell them how to operate to be borne with equanimity if possible* our requests to be complied with if It is not too inconvenient and ex pensive. With one or two notable exceptions we have never had the proper and understanding cooperation of their people in developing mixing plants of an ideal type.
