Present Situation
The kiln firebox is normally rebuilt late each year, which is normally a period of low sales activity. Due to the high heat, normal expansion and contraction, the fire brick must be replaced each year. The condition of the firebox has deteriorated to the point that its repair can no longer be postponed.
Justification
The Chicago Plant is budgeted to make-^. 8 M pounds of bulk litharge for 19^0 to support the manufacture of lead stabilizers at the Chicago Plant. Without the kiln, the plant would have to buy litharge. The annual premium would amount to between k$175 and k$230.
