The information in I'oor's Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives and its supplements has, with few exceptions, been obtained directly from the individuals and companies themselves. The nature and magnitude of the work, hoxvever, make it impossible for the Publisher to guarantee complete accuracy.

RAOKGROUND
<5tonciard cSt Poors Hogisler ol ( orporations, Directors, and Executives was first published in 1928 by the th poor's Publishing Company. At that time the Register represented the first major publishing effort in providin O ncitional "Directory of Directors" covering the entire United States. Today, with this its 49th publicatio S6(P's Register is generally acknowledged as being the foremost guide to the business community and th ^xecutivdS who run it. It has since its inception maintained a progressive program for refinements and add tions to its data and has in a sense reached out beyond the scope of a national publication with the inclusio o( Canadian businesses and major international corporations. This has been done in recognition of the nee for businessmen worldwide to reach the men who make "buying" decisions. Within its pages, the Regist |provides the richest market in the world for whatever product, proposition or service is being offered.
The 1976 Register is the second edition to be published as a multi-volume set. The change from a single volum to a three volume format was made to enable the publisher to continue to increase coverage while at the sam time responding to the expressed needs of subscribers in a way which greatly increases the usefulness of th
Register.
ARRANGEMENT of DATA S&P's Register has been designed to provide easy access for whatever reference is being made. It is arrange in three volumes and also includes cumulative supplements. All of the indexes have been consolidated int Volume III for ease of use with either Volume I or Volume II.
Volume 1--Corporate listings. Straight alphabetical seguence by business name of approximately 37,000 corporations including zip codes; telephone numbers; names, titles, and functions of approxi mately 390,000 officers, directors, and other prin cipals; name of accounting firms; Standard Industrial Classification codes; annual sales and
^ number of employees where available; division names and functions; subsidiary listings separate with reference to parent companies; principal busi ness affiliation and address of executives, if other than the subject company.
Volume 2--Individual listings--Directors and Execu tives Section. A straight alphabetical list of ap proximately 75,000 individuals serving as officers, directors, trustees, partners, etc. Provides principal business affiliations with official titles, business ad dresses, residence addresses and where obtainable year and place of birth, college and year of gradua tion and fraternal memberships.
Volume 3--Indexes. Divided into six color-coded sections:
Section 1 Standard Industrial Classification Index (Green Pages) explains the construction and use of the SIC code numbers, and lists these numbers by major groups and by alphabetical and numerical division of major groups. This section may be used as a reference to determine guickly the appropriate SIC code number for the line of business in which a company is engaged.
Section 2--Standard Industrial Classification Code (Pink Pages) lists corporations under the four Dig Standard Industrial Classification Codes which ar arranged in numerical order. Approximately 90 different SIC codes provide a defined breakdow by a company's line of business. Many companie have multiple listings in this section depending o the various industrial activities in which the com pany is engaged.
Section 3 Geographic Index (Buff Pages) lists com panies appearing in the Register geographicall by states and by major cities. Business names ar in alphabetical seguence.

Register Supplements. Register subscribers are entitled to interim supplements which contain ^ chanoes which have occurred since publication of the annual volume. These supplements are usuajj lished in April, July, and October of every year. Each supplement is cumulative and only the latest need ^
EDITORIAL COMPILATION and UPDATING PROCEDURES The work of keeping the Register up to date is carried on throughout the twelve months of the year ^ are sent annually to every listed corporation and individual for recording any pertinent changes si^C dpautbinligc, ataionnd opf htohteo pcroemcepdoisnitgioyneoafr'sthiisssudea.taS.taDnadialyrdne&wPsosoerr'sviccoems,ppurteersiszeadnnfoacuinlicteiems eanrtes, utsreaddeinpustbolrij^9

Standard & Poor's own editorial staff, and of course individual contact by interested members within th ness community have contributed to the completeness of this publication. In as large and comprehensiy6 '
undertaking as the Register these efforts result in extensive changes in our data from year to year. For exQr:
the number of individual and corporate listings in which major changes occurred since our last edition excess of 100,000 and the number of actual revisions necessary to bring this edition completely up to ^ over 600,000. In effect, each edition becomes a "fresh'' one with new opportunities for buyers and s6 alike to pinpoint their most profitable markets. There is, of course, no charge to be listed in ScSP's Registe>
OUR APPRECIATION
We again welcome this opportunity to thank all those individuals and corporations who have cooperate reviewing proofs and responding to our requests; and particularly our subscribers for their loyalty and supas well as their helpfulness in calling to our attention changes in our corporate and executive listings. Wityou there would be no Register. It is only through this joint participatory effort that we are able to preser this our forty-ninth annual edition a work of unusual thoroughness. Finally, we renew our commitment to c tinue, through the use of data-processing equipment, photocomposition techniques, and up to date prc sional publishing technology, our efforts to provide maximum value to all users of the Register.

The information in Poor's Register of Corporations, Directors and Executives and its supplements has, with few exceptions, been obtained directly from the
individuals and companies themselves. The nature and magnitude of the work,
however, make it impossible for the Publisher to guarantee complete accuracy.

EDITORIAL COMPILATION and UPDATING PROCEDURES The work of keeping the Register up to date is carried on throughout the twelve months of the year. Pr0Q^ are sent annually to every listed corporation and individual for recording any pertinent changes since tK publication of the preceding year's issue. Standard & Poor's computerized facilities are used in storing, Utdating, and photo composition of this data. Daily news services, press announcements, trade publications Standard & Poor's own editorial staff, and of course individual contact by interested members within the busl. ness community have contributed to the completeness of this publication. In as large and comprehensive Q* undertaking as the Register these efforts result in extensive changes in our data from year to year. For exainpie the number of individual and corporate listings in which major changes occurred since our last edition is > excess of 100,000 and the number of actual revisions necessary to bring this edition completely up to date ;r over 600,000. In effect, each edition becomes a "fresh" one with new opportunities for buyers and seller alike to pinpoint their most profitable markets. There is, of course, no charge to be listed in S&P's Register.
OUR APPRECIATION We again welcome this opportunity to thank all those individuals and corporations who have cooperated in reviewing proofs and responding to our requests; and particularly our subscribers for their loyalty and suppor as well as their helpfulness in calling to our attention changes in our corporate and executive listings. Without you there would be no Register. It is only through this joint participatory effort that we are able to present this our forty-ninth annual edition a work of unusual thoroughness. Finally, we renew our commitment to con tinue, through the use of data-processing equipment, photocomposition techniques, and up to date proies-
sional publishing technology, our efforts to provide maximum value to all users of the Register.
