Executive Director Visits Europe..JDuring the period March 14 through March 23 the Executive Director visited a number of European contacts to continue the exchange of information and views on PVC. At the prestigious Davos Conference Recycle '94, he keynoted a vinyl section with an overview of developments in North America. This was followed by visits to the European Vinyls Corporation in Brussels and the Vinyls Group of the British Plastics Federation in London where there was intense interest in political activities of the UC and EPA. The last day was spent attending a wire and cable symposium sponsored by Hydro Polymers and EVC to report technical progress in development of PVC products for that market. (Contact: Bob Burnett)
At the quarterly Executive Board meeting of the Vinyl Institute preliminary approval was given for an expanded 1994-1995 fiscal year budget which provides additional funding for issues management, including communications. The need for additional intemal/extemal education was made clear by publication of the official IJC report as well as the EPA proposal to ban chlorine. (Contact: Bob Burnett)
Klockner Pentaplast welcomed Bob Burnett to their Gordonsville facility on March 2-3 despite a severe snow storm. The opportunity was taken to visit their state-of-the-art PVC barrier coating facility and update the management group on recent developments concerning vinyl. (Contact: Bob Burnett)
