The tanks are spherical and are 40' - 6" diameter. Surfaces to be painted include the outside of the shells, exposed metal supports, and attachments. These tanks were previously sandblasted and painted with an alkyd system. The top coat is practically all gone and the primer has failed at various spots. The enclosed General Conditions of Inquiries shall apply except that Petrochemical shall furnish all paint. SURFACE PREPARATION Surfaces where the primer has failed shall be prepared according to ''Steel Structures Painting Council Surface Preparation Specifications, Near White Blast Cleaning, SP-10." Surfaces where the primer is in good condition shall be prepared according to "Steel Structures Painting Council Surface Preparation Specifications, Hand Tool Cleaning, SP-2." These surfaces shall be free of contaminants. Solvents that will damage existing coating shall not be used. PAINTING Surfaces that are sandblasted shall be primed with one coat of Briners No. 2810, 2-3 mils DFT. All surfaces shall be painted with one top coat of Briners No. 2823, 2-3 mils DFT. All paint materials shall be applied according to manufacturer's recommended specifications unless other wise specified by Petrochemical. Paulson, Coastal States Petrochemical Company, P. O. Box 521, Corpus Christi, Texas, 78403. All materials and work shall be in accordance with the specifications, plans, naps, and instructions attached. All matters not covered in detail shall be performed In a manner consistent with the highest standards prevailing for such type of work in the petrochemical industry. The Contractor shall handle all materials and work so that they may be inspect ed by Petrochemical's authorized representative. The Contractor shall furnish constant supervision, competent foremen, and all permits, licenses, labor, tools, equipment, fuel, utilities, transportation, and materials, together with all other items which may be necessary in the performance and completion of the work, unless otherwise provided in the attachments. Before ordering any materials or doing any work, the Contractor shall verify all measurements at the site and shall be responsible for the correctness of same. Time and quality of work shall be of the essence. The Contractor shall perform work from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and shall not schedule work on holidays that are observed by Petrochem ical, unless otherwise permitted by the authorized representative of Petro chemical. The Contractor shall comply with Petrochemical's safety regulations. The Contractor shall file with Petrochemical, evidence of insurance at the following minimum amounts: 1. Workmen's Compensation Insurance and Employer's Liability Insurance in accordance with the statutory requirements of the following: a. The State in which work is being performed. b. The state in which the Contractor's employees reside. 2. Comprehensive General Public Liability and Property Damage Insurance including Contractor's Contingent Liability with respect to subcontractors and with limits of not less than: a. CANCELLATION PROVISIONS Coastal States Petrochemical Company may require the Contractor or subcontract ors to submit the original or certified copies of the policy for inspection at any time. Policies providing for the coverage shown above shall contain provisions that no cancellation or material change in the policies shall become effective, except after 15 days written notice to Coastal States Petrochemical Company. EXTRA-HAZARDOUS COVERAGE On any jobs which are considered to be extra-hazardous, such as installation or setting of towers and vessels inside a plant yard, additional insurance protection may be required at the discretion of che Company.
