The subject nuterial throughout the density range of 11.5 to 16.2 lb per cu ft set the physical requireBents of Ravy Specification 32-P-8, Gr.-de II, 6-1-44. In fact, the results for 24 be rs at 1000 T are within -he requireaents for 6 hours at 750 f. In to Instances the saterial eas *co soft after heat treataent, but the other 4 groups act the specifica tion la hardness.
The epeelaens aade using la part the scrap froa the previous run, for which a virgin six eas used, appeared to be ae eatisfaetorr aa the flret run aatarial.

2. DETAILED investigation
'^teriai
Of .-unoa ite Pi pa Insulation mode from a virgin mix, 1 section of 12" li-tmeter 1" thick and 5 sections of 3" diameter, 1" thick, were submitted by ?. .'icDeroott on June 20, 1941 for test; of the 5 sections of 3" sise, 3 were -f approximately 11.8 lb, 1 of 13.3 lb, and 1 of 16.2 lb per cu ft density.
Three sections of 3" diameter, 1* thick material made using in pert scrap from the previous run were submitted on June 24th. Of these, 1 section had a density of 11.7 lb per eu ft, the other 2 of 13.8 lb per cu ft, as r*ceived.
Infill
Complete ptaytlcal tests, covering all the items in !Uvy Specification 32-P-S, 6-1-44, Grade II, were run oa the 3" diameter, 1* thick staples. Since there eas only 1 section of 12" diameter, 1-1/2" thick materiel available, it waa not cut up but checked only for dimensions sad density.
