Word was received from Bill Gribble of OSHA that results of the asbestos dust samples taken during the last hygiene inspection showed all airborne dust levels to be below the present 5 fibre/cc 8 hour T.W.A. standard. Of the 3 machines sampled, the Slab Mill and the #3 Preform Press were found to meet the July standard of 2 fibres/cc 8 hour T.W.A. The End Cut Saw, however, will require modification as its test showed an asbestos level of 4.9 fibres/cc 8 hour T.W.A. Also, per Bill Gribble's recommendation, a container to catch asbestos waste at the Slab Mill, must be fabricated. This is the first OSHA inspection we have had which has not resulted in a citation and fine. 2. CEA's were written to correct OSHA violations at the Blanchard grinders for excessive asbestos dust and the correction of electrical wiring which was found to be unsatisfactory during the last OSHA safety inspection. 3. Engineering and feasibility study proposals have been received from Trace Environmental, Inc. and Clayton Environmental, Inc. Costs quoted v/ere: Trace: $18,000 Clayton: 28,500-41,400 depending on work required 4. Four employees have been scheduled for comprehensive medical exams with Dr. Jon Closson and the Defiance Clinic. Three more employees will be scheduled during June. 5. Caution signs have been installed around the asbestos disposal site to the west of the plant. An investigation will be made to determine costs required to fence the entire site and for acquiring a dust suppressant. This is necessary to comply with the Environmental Protection Agency.
