I have looked over the report of your Mr* Lane relating to the Illness of one of your service station m e n , 4 H H H ^ ^ It seems quite clear to me that there is very i likelihood that a claim of lead poisoning will be made in this case. Despite the statement of Mr. father that Dr. Evans had described the case as one lead colic, it seems quite plain that this is not the con clusion of the men who have indicated that they will oper ate. if there were reason to believe Mr. had lead colic, no One would think of performing an abdominal oper ation. I take it therefore that some other diagnosis has been suggested as the likely one, and that the abdominal operation will probably disclose the cause of Mr. Illness. In any case, by this time the matter has probably reached some conclusion, and It does not seem either wise or necessary for this department to interfere in the mat ter at present. I shoul date very much knowing the further progress of Mr. and in having-any further informa tion about him. If there is still any doubt about the diagnosis at the time you receive this letter, I should be glad to be informed, for X have every wish to investi gate every case In which there is any possibility of a diagnosis of lead poisoning being m a d e , and further* if; you wish it for any reason, I should be pleased to have one of my assistants look into the matter and take such action as we find possible* Very truly yours, RAX:EJT 00H0d.il
