SOUTHERN ASBESTOS COMPANY CHARLOTTE, N. C. December 9, 1936
Mr. S. Simpson, President Raybestos-Mannattan, Inc., Bridgeport, Conn.
Dear Mr. Simpson:
You' will "recall during- the- recent meeting in New York I spoke of the number of cases that were about to come to trial of ours in Charlotte. They have been postponed by the Industrial Co.unmission until January 5th, 1937.
These cases are defended by us and several insurance companies. Our attorneys, as well as the insurance companies' attorneys, would li^e to interview several employees of yours at Charleston. They have no particular ones in mind. I am assuming they would be more interested in talking with reliable employees of yours at Charleston who work in your Card Room, probably a few others..
V/ould it be agreeable to you through your Charleston office to have one or more attorneys gn down there, pr.ohably. the latter, part of next week, to make these interviews?
I an not entirely clear as to what they want to support. There has been testimony sub mitted by employees that the dust removing equipment in your plant at Charleston, prior to 1954, had advan tages over the one we have at Charlotte. I believe this is their chief motive in interviewing several of your employees.
We shall very much appreciate your cooperation, and be very glad to extend you the same courtesies.
we are,
Thanking you for your cooperation.
Yours very truly, SOUTHERN ASBESTOS COMPANY
