Nevertheless, I do understand that there are customers in medical products who have requirements on maximum VCM content in our compounds. In addition, as you know we have made commitments to certain foreign agencies to furnish compounds to Canada at less than 3 ppm and to Great Britain at less than 5 ppm. We have not heard that these levels will be acceptable as yet, but PCC agreed to set up procedures to ensure shipments accordingly. When certain regulations take effect have no influence on the above situation. How much compound will be required and when,must be established with Messrs. Davidson/Brand. However, there could be a considerable change in our needs, timing and procedures when the final FDA regulation is issued. There is no Indication now about timing here. On the matter of 6 ppm in resin, this level is selected to ensure that compound will be made at 3 ppm or less. At current levels of compound production and resin inventory procedures, I understand that this poses?po .serious problem. If large volumes of food grade compounds are neededjr-Twe will require a raw material specification for VCM con tent in rejfe to meet FDA or other customer requirements. Would you please clarify the circumstances leading up to this comment? It would also help matters to know when such a regulation will take effect. Regarding a system to ensure that we meet VCM criterion, we will try to use customer cards and special shipping instructions. 7029 has been running .very low in VCM without special efforts on our behalf. As such, we have enough low VCM product to fill the occasional requests received for tills type product. If you believe that there are going to be large scale requirements for below 6 ppm 7029 and 2029 we will have to set up other precautionary procedures. Of highest concern, would be your comment regarding 6 ppm resin. !fe currently do not pretest aged resins prior to production. Your suggestions on this matter would be helpful. Mel nick Attached letter from Dick Gross to Nylacarb commits us to furnish 7029 with VCM below 6 ppm. We may further be obligated to use resin below 6 ppm In its manufacture. These obligations are similar to those for 7029 going to Canada and Great Britain. It is important that John Dyrkac2 and Barry Melnick set up appropriate system to ensure that we meet our VCM targets.
