Because of the heat distortion temperatures involved they have looked at our Aroclors 1268 and 1270/1272. They are not F.R. enough due to their inertness and H & P appear to favor hexabromobenzene at $1.00-1.20/lb. Should Michigan Chemical decide to enter the brominated biphenyl business the question arises why not Monsanto and why.not try to keep Michigan Chemicals C out. Brominated biphenyls may have other attractions to Monsanto at this time__p_arti_cularly if the lower ones were bio-degradable. Any producer that goes into brominated biphenyls will almost certainly back into other halogenated bi/terphenyls.
