Velte Subject: Production Materials and Components Containing Asbestos The attached list is a consolidation of the parts and materials identified by the PEOs, as requested by the Task Force on Carcinogens in the Workplace. It is the basis for the complete list of bulk materials and components, required to systematically eliminate asbestos from Company products. The items listed are known or suspected of containing asbestos. As discussed in Task Force meetings. Purchasing and Supply Staff is requested to proceed through supplier contact to confirm that the items listed do or do not eor.tatn asbestos. For those products which do contain asbestos, please determine whether the supplier has knowledge of a substitute material that would meet engineering and manufacturing require ments, and actions they may propose to take toward elimination or accommodation of asbestos m the products they supply Ford. The findings should be presented to the Task Force arranged -in two groups: Group A -- Those products having known substitutes, and Group B -- Those for which no substitutes are known. The supplier identification number or code name for the asbestos containing product should also be listed where such exists, for exact identification. Your cooperation in completing this task by May IS, 1980, so that it may be included in the Task Force report to the E&R and MAS Subcommittees is requested. The final Task Force report must be filed for inclusion in the agenda by May 20, 1930, for the Subcommittee meeting May 27, 1980.
