Drucker On behalf of our Board of Directors welcome to the Association's Twelfth Annual Meeting and Industry Conference. Few would deny that 1984 will be a turbulent time for the A/C pipe industry. A time when the "good vibrations" emanating from a revitalized, pulsating economy are being dampened by the "bad vibes" given out by the threat and tone of further government regulation. As Peter Drucker has pointed out " ... a time of turbulence is a dangerous time, but its greatest danger is a temptation to deny reality." Whether by design or ironic happenstance, the specter of "big brother" i.e., draconian regulation, has become a very real and repugnant reality in 1984. How the industry plans to face up to this reality will be the crux of this year's Industry Conference, Vibrations '84. Vibrations '84 will also provide an opportunity to examine today's "economic realities,"-tomorrow's "megatrends" and what steps other business sectors have taken "in search of excellence."
