TJC Customers
Per your request attached is a list of domestic tape joint compound (TJC) manufacturers to whom we have sold asbestos, primarily SG-210 and HPO. The list was developed from computer sales scrolls from 1974 through 1977. Some manufacturers could have purchased asbestos from our distributors without our knowledge and therefore would not be on the list. The number of employees is based on information from our salesmen and they are only estimates.
The Workmen's Compensation case in California involves a contractor, not a\
TJC company. Hamilton Manufacturing's only connection is that they became )
aware of the case and advised us in the event we wanted to be "involved"./
TJC manufacturers sell their products to probably hundreds of thousands of contractors, resellers, consumers, etc. Harry's CPSC testimony would provide some information on this, if you are trying to determine the number of persons who may be exposed to asbestos-containing TJC and similar products. I imagine it would be in the millions.
Harry is meeting with a large group of insurance carrier representatives in Los Angeles on 2/2/78. He will issue a report describing the current case and other details.
