Grumbles January 30, 1985 PRODUCT SAFETY CONCERNS FOR NEW INDUSTRIAL PRODUCT STREAMS VISTA As we move to commercialize the ''refinery" streams (Molex Raff., NPSO, SSO and Aromatic Distillates) it is important that we are kept informed of those activities to assure the following: 1. Appropriate review of the streams for toxicological properties or testing needs must be done. This is to develop data for Material Safety Data Sheets, and determine if any exceptional handling or protection procedures would be required. 2. When stream characterizations are determined, the appropriate physical testing must be done for the MSDS and to obtain the appropriate DOT classification for transportation. 3. All of the above will be used to develop the MSDS. As we have discussed, as of November 25, 1985, it is a legal requirement to develop, and send, MSDSs to all customers handling hazardous materials. This includes sample shipments. To achieve the above in an orderly fashion, it is important that we are informed early in the developmental process. Thomas G.
