WincJ6ster s- Attached is a memorandum directed *6 Len Winchester from John Zietz at Plant 4 in Roblnsop/ In this note John refers to additional labor cost incurred on their part because they had to transfer bags of asbestos from large green pallets to their reusable wooden pallets. Prior to this note, neither Len Winchester nor myself/nad any communication from John Zietz regarding this problem. There was apparently some com munication with somebptty in the Chicago operation because we did receive the reu^ble pallets and the first load of asbestos was shipped on thede pallets. However, at this time we changed our method of shipping in order to pile the material high in the trailer an/fill all the air space in the trailer. This was done to eaduce the number of trailers required for the total shipment and thereby reduce the shipping cost. The net result wa/that we "traded" a reduced shipping cost for addi tional handling in Plant 4.
