Dear CCIM PFAS WG members,
As you can see in the mail below we have been contacted by 3M to have a meeting to discuss PFAS toxicology with their
chief Medical Officer. Dr.
has consequently been invited to attend the open session of the Belgian REACH
Committee (BCR) to present the work described in the mail below.
As this discussion will most likely mainly concern human toxicology of PFAS (specifically workers) we would like to invite
the members of this working group to also attend this meeting in order to inform you and to ensure fruitful discussions
on the subject.
We would therefore like to invite the PFAS WG members to attend the BCR open session of Monday 12/12 at 11:3012:15 in Brussels (Galileelaan 5/2 - 1210 Brussels, room TBD). Especially members with interest and expertise in this specific PFAS subject are highly recommended to attend this meeting.
The meeting will most likely be held hybrid, but we highly recommend you to physically attend this meeting in Brussels
to ensure efficient interaction during the meeting. Please send a mail to

I am contacting you as 3M's Chief Medical Officer,
will be visiting Europe early December. He is
coming to attend the BelTox conference on the 7th December. As we are on the verge of an intense year of EU
regulatory action on PFAS, I was wondering whether you would be interested in a meeting with Dr.
? I would
like to propose a one hour meeting in your offices to present and discuss our understanding of where the health science
on different PFASs stands and to enable an efficient short deep dive on this complex topic. If the meeting could take
place either on the 6th, or on the 8th or 9th December, that would be the most suitable for his schedule.
3M is supportive of a REACH restriction which recognizes the vital role of modern PFASs across several sectors critical for the EU's strategic autonomy and which is based on sound science (including risk assessment). At 3M, we have spent decades studying PFAS compounds and promoting the state of scientific knowledge about their effects on people and the environment. One of the most recent research studies was published last month in the scientific journal Environment International. The study examined the antibody response to COVID-19 vaccines among our workers with a wide range of exposure to per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. The study shows statistically insignificant reduction in antibody response and no association with COVID-19 disease.
