JOHNS-MAHVILLE RESEARCH AND ENGINEERING CENTER VW4- S- ^ \^A \j ReportNo. ^32-293 Date April 23, 1968 Title: "SUFEREX" - EXTRUDED MAGNESIA FREE - PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF A FORMULATION CONTAINING REWORK MATERIAL SUMMARY Additions of 10 and 20 per cent rework material to an experimental formulation for producing extruded magnesia-free "SUFEREX" increased the linear shrinkage appreciably at 1900F. The modulus of rupture was reduced markedly only with the 20 per cent addition. It must be concluded that use of rework material in an extrusion formulation probably if not entirely unacceptable will be limited to a low percentage. Efforts are continuing to develop an improved formulation. Contents: Summary, Discussion and Appendix rc cc: JJ. B. Jobe, DH (S) MM. W. Burleson, DH (s) AA. Pccius, DH J,T . A. Campbell, DH C. E.
