Description of Operation Relating to Talc Dust Exposure Strip rubber from the rubber' mill passes- through^a^trough of talc and water mixture then by conveyor to air dry before being hand^packed in transport con tainer for further processing. Some of the talc adhering to the rubber is dislodged during' the packing operation and becomes airborne. Respiratory pro tection is worn during packing. _, . . , .. Method of Sampling and Analysis A personal sample was obtained in the breathing zone of the packer using an MSA Gravimetric pump and millipore filter. The sample was analyzed for talc concentration by light field microscopy in American Mutual's Industrial Hygiene Laboratory which is accredited-by. the American Industrial Hygiene Association. The Threshold Limit Value for non-asbestiform talc is 20 million particles per cubic foot of air. See attached Air Analysis Table for laboratory findings. Comment Management is currently anticipating the installation of a drying tunnel for the rubber strip material andean -automatic reel revind at the packing ^station.
