LEAD INDUSTRIES ASSOCIATION TRADE PUBLICITY PROGRAM SECOND-0UARTER REPORT April - July, 1973 Highlights of current publicity projects discussing lead applications...........in LEAD ACID BATTERIES! * A feature story on the use of battery-powered epeeial-purpose personnel carriers to replace internal combustion vehicles at Morton Salt Company's Painesville, Ohio mine -- deepest salt mine in U.S., published in SKILLINGS MINING REVIEW. * Two articles concerning the use of batterypowered buses to help solve the nation's mass transit problems, have been published in AMERICAN METAL MARKET, MACHINE DESIGN, and THE NORTHERN MINER. A new 18-ft.-long pleasure boat that is expected to provide quiet for both fishermen and motor sailors. The recently-released article has been featured in THE BATTERY MAN and DESIGN NEWS magazines thus far. A major release discussed the unique Consolidated Edison Cable Splicing School which specializes in joining, splicing and Wiping UNDERGROUND ELECTRICAL CABLES. * A two-page feature describing the school and highlighting how students are taught to wipe lead-sheathed cable joints was published in the May 1, 1973 issue of ELECTRICAL WORU). Festure articles on the use of SHEET LEAD SOUND BARRIERS fori * A newly developed acoustical/thennal building panel used to quiet the sound of ductvorV and fans at the Long Island Lighting Company's Northport, N.Y. plant. This story was the colorcover feature story of the May 15, 1973 issue of ELECTRICAL WORLD magazine and it was also featursd as a one-page placement in PUBLIC UTILITIES FORT NIGHTLY, a two-page feature in METAL BUILDING REVIEW, a one-column feature in FACTORY, and a 3 three-column feature in AMERICAN METAL MARKET. N 3502.01 * Montreal' Justice Building, which features the use of sheet lead sound barriers in the building's walls and at the partition line along the building's heating and air-conditioning system. Published in AMERICAN METAL MARKET. A feature article concerning the introduction of LEAD CLAD STEEL was given prominent attention in such magazines as PURCHASING, t 1 MATERIALS ENGINEERING, PROGRESSIVE ARCHITECTURE, CHEMICAL EQUIPMENT and AMERICAN MACHINIST magazines. Four recently-released feature articles, which have been distributed to a variety of monthly metalworking, design and engineering magazines, have been published in the daily newspaper, AMERICAN METAL MARKET.
