INTER-OFFICE MEMO TENNECO CHEMICALS, INC T From Subject File At d, c. Coldiron At Piscataway CARBON ADSORPTION SYSTEM REVIEW MEETING Date December 7, 1976 Copt to W. J. Klingebiel R. S. Miller On Thursday, December 2, 1976, a meeting was held in Piscataway, N. J. with personnel of Chemical Design, Inc, Those present from TCI and CDI are listed on the attachment. The purpose of the meeting was: 1) To review available data from both CDI and Tenneco research effort 2) To review the proposed design scheme as recommended by CDI for the various plant applications. 3) To recommend any changes in the proposed system considered necessary for its successful operation. -- As a result of the discussion, the following agreements were reached: 1) The TCI pilot plant will check the CDI loading data at the feed gas velocities used by CDI, There were substantial differences between the Tenneco and the CDI developed data, 2) The Pilot Plant will run tests on regeneration using subatmospheric pressures and superheated steam. This is expected to improve regeneration efficiency. 3) The Pasadena PVC Plant Technical Service staff will conduct a test run on the existing carbon bed unit to prove out the CDI process scheme. A) To confirm the design basis for the Burlington carbon adsorption unit J, Sandstedt will review the nitrogen stripping data and confirm the final concentration of VCM in the stripping gas -at the end of the stripping cycle.
