Dear Bari;:
At our N>w Orleans physicians' meeting last year the group briefly discussed APCI's oti jective of moving toward on-site periodic medical screening examinations at those sites of sufficient size to warrant a full-time nurse and properly designed and equipped clinical facilities. The health unit at Escambia has been prepared for this purpose, and I should like to propose for your consideration a modified program which would accomplish at Pace much of v/h at has been done in the city.
The genefal idea would be to retain you as a consultant (or as a permanent part-ti mi> employee) to serve approximately one day per week at Pace (usually) On this tyasis you would average seeing ten people per week, give or take a few, wi th sufficient time for repeats, paper work, dictation, and the like. If this ;ime proved to be insufficient, adjustments as necessary would be made.
Annual ch est films and audiometry would be performed by Professional Health Services (PHS) of Philadelphia, a mobile van organization. Several random batches if their films have been checked for us by Benjamin Felson, M.D., Cincinnati, who judges them to be of excellent quality.
Blood chemistry and hematology would be drawn by Bebe and sent by air freight or mail to Metpath in New Jersey. If Bebe did venipunctures oncea week, it would not be unreasonable to use a form of over-night or one-day service. Metpath1:; quality assurance seems to be as good as any, and we have had good service from them.
Spirometry and EKG's could be done by Bebe; for 10 people a week this should be no sfain. EKG's could be interpreted by you, by Ron Lutz here, or by someone you might recommend locally.
