Dear Dr. Letham,
Under separate cover I have forwarded dust sampled from Australian Blue Asbestos, Wittenoom, as followss- .
Sample Is Sample 2; Sample 3;
Dust collected underground near mine main exhaust.
Dust collected from mill exhaust system.
Filter pad from respirator of a man cleaning up under the screen in the mill, 6 hour use.
I would like a complete analysis of those dust samples to determine (a) the silica and asbestos content and (b) the complete size grading of all the mineral particles, i.e. silica end asbestos.
The particle size retention by the mask filter relative to the size of particles in ample, may indicate the mask's effectiveness or otherwise.
It may not be possible to obtain this information locally but I feel sure that *t would be worth determining for present use and for future comparison.
