As seems to be the case when I present my card, I get a warm and cordial greeting and it is only after I explain that I do not have epoxy or vinyl resin to sell that I get the "Oh! You sell asbestos? I didn't know Union Carbide had asbestos." Well, I went down the road all the way with a general outline of how we got in the business, what products we had, and where they were used. Unfortunately, I cam up with a big fat zero. They sell only minimal amounts of the epoxy coal tar coating and the total gelling agent (Bentone 38) a year is about IOC lbs. Asbestos is no longer used as they formulated it out of their block filler material, although not for toxicology reasons bur simply that they found a better unnamed substitute. No silica is used and they do net make mastics, caulks, sealants or epoxy adhesives. Fowler did ask for and was given a copy of our 144 and 244 brochures in the event a requirement came up for a thixotropic, anti-say, anti-sttling agent, but looking around the room, it appears they may just be technical data collectors. ~w No further calls needed unless they contact us.
