Dear Mr. Philbeck: This is in reply to your letter of June 19* 1958, regarding Geon resins 118, 100X17, 100X13, and 120X55. Unfortunately, a typographical error occurred in identifying the plasticiser in Geon 100X17. This plasticiser should be 0-62 rather than G-52, as manufactured by Rohm & Haas Company. I believe 0-62 has been previously approved by your agency as being satis factory for food packaging applications. Geon 100X17 contains no additional materials other than this plasticizer and polyvinyl chloride resin. Geon resins 118 and 100X13 contain no materials other than poly vinyl chloride resin. Geon resin 120X55 contains 0.5 or less of ammonium laurate, In addition to polyvinyl chloride resin. I did not previously iden tify this constituent because I felt Its quantity was below the level of toxicological significance. All of these resins, of course, are marketed as aqueous dispersions. The compositions given to you in this letter and in the one of June 12 are on a dry weight basis, of the film as it would be in contact with food. Sincerely yours, W.
