Hone, of the legal staff of Tide Water Associated Oil Company, regardmig the case brought against them in connection with the death of one a cpy of which letter was sent to you by Mr. Hone. I was so highly pleased with the paragraph dealing with your goodself that I took the liberty of sending the letter around to be read (which has been done) by the following gentlemen in our office: Messrs. Edgar Taylor Mehring Gonzalez Loder Kaley Lewis I am not sure that you have met Air. Loder. He is now associated with us here, with an office on the 36th floor. He has been on a retainer for us for years in connection with matters involving personal injury and insurance gener ally. He has been practicing law in New York for thirty-four years and during most of it in the trial of negligence cases in behalf of the defendant and insurance com panies. He gained the reputation, and I think very deservedly so because I have heard him try a number of them, of being one of the few topnotchers in Greater New York in that connection. For some years he was general counsel for the Travelers Insurance Company, and until May 1st had been general counsel for the Standard Accident Insurance Company for a number of years. He gave up his practice on April 30th because he has had some heart trouble for several years and his physicians advised him that he must give up trial work. He is not going to engage in the general practice of the law - he has an arrangement wdth us by which he will devote three days a week in. our service on general legal matters. Air. Loder has requested me to ask you if he could have the transcript of this case after it has served your purpose.
