Check closely the steel and coating condition of the tanks presently being used for ballast, both clean and permanent ballast tanks. 2. Check if any tanks have anodes in them. If so, what is their present condition. 3. Discuss with the captain and chief mate alternative ballast patterns compared to the ones they are presently using. When you visit the EXXON LEXINGTON this week you can see what pattern they are using. 4.. The tanks selected for the new ballast pattern should be closely Inspected to determine their present condition and to see if coating, anodes or steel will be required in the near future.
