X-RAY INTERPRETATION CHAMBERS WORKS
&
Dr. Bonntt is in the process of implementing a procedure whereby several Wilmington based sites will have their x-rays interpreted by the corporate certified radiologist. Dr. O.S. Allen. It is estimated that such service will cost not more them $1.25 per film based on an expected case load of 25M x-rays per year.'
Dr. Bonnett has agreed to assist Chambers* Dr. Neeld in exploring a similar contracted radiologist service for Chambers Works, Repauno and Carneys Point. If successful, the additional
cost, would appear to approximate $15M -- ISM per year rather than
the $150M estimate for sending x-rays to Salem Hospital.
I suggest Dr. Bonnett*s alternative approach be fully explored before we fix our position of continuing to have most x-rays inter preted by plant physicians. I will advise you further following Chambers* investigation of tha contracted radiologist's approach.
