Comments Personal sample: Collected on filter cassette. Time-Weighted Average Concentration (TWA) Ceiling Concentration ALLOWABLE EXPOSURE (8 Hr.) TWA 2 fibers/cc X 0SHA UCC Other Ceiling 0SHA UCC Other COMMENTS R. E. Raines was monitored while stripping approximately 12 ft. of old insulation from 3/4" steam line just outside the telephone room in the basement of Bldg. 701. While stripping the insulation, Mr. Raines wore a disposable respirator, coveralls, gloves, and shoe covers. The area was barricaded, signs posted, and a portable water sprayer was used to wet down the insulation. Evaluation of the sample indicated a level of asbestos fibers less than the allowable exposure limit. However, the fiber concentration was higher than expected for this type of job. It is possible that the insulation was not wetted down thoroughly enough prior to removal due to the fact that some of it was difficult to reach. Please notify employee of exposure results.
