This would increase the cost by $15,000 (changing the project budget from $165,000 to $180,000). Some of you have al ready indicated specific approval. For the rest, we will assume you approve unless you object, in view of the relatively modest amount involved in each company's proportionate share and the fact that this extension calls for no increase above the original com mitments . (2) Epidemiology Study Although responses to my December 21, 1972 letter were less than unanimous in favor of proceeding immediately to Management Contacts of Companies Sponsoring VC Research Program April 13, 1973 Page Two an epidemiological investigation, events in the interim have conspired to increase its desirability. Messages of approval and funding commitment have been received from all of the 17 participating companies represented at the April 4th Technical Task Group meeting, and I am corresponding with the other three. We are now in a position to expedite getting this under way. You will be interested that the companies sponsoring the European project wish to contribute their epidemiologic data, hoping that such enlargement of the larger worker population will add to statistical significance. (3) Executive-Level consultation No objection was raised to undertaking the first step of the proposal described in my letter of March 26, 1973, namely, executive-level consultation concerning the European research observations, and plans are proceeding.
