White, Industrial Hygienist for Huebach Inc., called to report that an employee of theirs was complaining of nose bleeds and alleging that these were caused by exposure to octanol. He had a doctor's note saying he should stay away from work and exposure to chemical vapors. He wanted to know If this was j feasible and if data was available to refute a potential compensation claim. He described the plant process and said you could smell alcohol in the process area but no other workers in the area had experienced affects or complained. Dr. Drumwright and I talked to him. He was told that nosebleeds were feasible but not expected without a very high exposure, and that other symptoms would have been seen with that type of exposure.
