DISTRIBUTORS AND CUSTOMERS. f S/ CHASSIS AFFECTED ALLENTOWN0 HAYWARD!?] OAKVILLE0 RADIO FREQUENCY INTERFERENCE (All Vehicles Equipped with Anti-Wheel Lock Brake System) PURPOSE To inform owners and operators of the possibility that field installed electrical equipment may affect operation of the anti-wheel lock system. RECOMMENDATION Perform the test outlined in this bulletin if additional electrical equipment is installed on subject vehicles. INFORMATION It is possible for some electrically powered or controlled equipment to cause interference with the operation of other vehicle components. This interference may be conducted or radiated and is dependent on frequency and power level of the added equipment. If additional electrical equipment is installed in the field, the operator or installer must be certain any signals generated by this equipment will not adversely affect existing components. This precaution is particularly important on vehicles equipped with an anti-wheel lock brake system. To insure that added electrical equipment is compatible with the anti-wheel lock components, the following test should be made. 1. Perform check procedure with vehicle stationary, engine running, and brake air system at normal operating pressure. 2. Depress and hold brake pedal at full application pressure. 3. Operate the added equipment in all its starting, running, and shut-down modes. Listen for air exhausting from the anti wheel lock controllers and also observe the anti-lock warning light to see if it is illuminated. 4. If air is exhausted from the controllers and/or the anti-lock warning light is illuminated momentarily or constantly, an interference condition exists which must be eliminated before the chassis is released for service.
