Jeffrey of .Akron, was started in Ashtabula because a recent Britisn study of workers exposed to F7C dust suggested, that excessive exposure caused adverse effects cn the lures. This report is a summary of l6 respirable dust samples. Seven (7) samples were taken by c. G. icpez cn 2-27-50 arc the remainder by Ashtabula oersonr.el. All samples were well below 5 mg/MF, therefore we do not shew a respirable dust rrcblem at his time. Additional samples will be taken. mesoussion The samples are taken utilizing cassettes with RVC filters, preweighed by the A.kron Industrial Hygiene Laboratory: cyclone adapters and KE.A Model S high flow pumps that are calibrated with a suitable flow meter. The cassettes, with required flew data for calculations, are returned to Akron for the test results. Most all of the samples were taken ever am 8 hour workday. The current CSHA limit regulates Fv'C dust as a nuisance and requires control of respirable dust to a level of 10 mg/m3. The American Con ference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) recommends 5 mg/m-. With these limits as a guide the data obtained, Tables I, II and III, shows: 1. All samples are well below 5 mg/m_3 limits. 2. The highest value of 2.14 mg/m-3 was obtained from the #2 sifter platform in resin finishing. (All sifter platforms had a let of settled FVC cn the floor, equipment, etc., especially =2. Housekeeping may be a problem.
