Vaughn 1976 INDIVIDUAL NOISE EXPOSURE STUDY Seventeen individual noise exposures were run using the two Dupont dosimeters calibrated to read 100 if the time weigh average of noise exposure was 85 dba. Three of the seventeen noise readings exceeded the 100 mark, which means these three individuals were exposed to an excessive amount of noise unless they were wearing hearing protection. One high reading was obtained on an S.O.T. working in the fluid bed dryer. A second high reading was recorded when a shift supervisor ran a chain saw in the wash column for one hour. The reasons for the third high reading are not documented. The three high readings do point out that certain areas of the plant and certain operations not routinely done require hearing protection. Two of the noisiest areas are the fluid bed dryer blower area, and the air compressor areas. Please observe the signs designating hearing protection areas. Attached are the results of the study. J.
