The standard In question has been established so that all sizes of lead pipe In the following classifications will safely withstand the constant cold water pressure in dicated for each classification: * Classification Safe Pressures In Lbs. Per Sq, Inch A or 8 AA or ZS AAA or XXS 60 76 100 Heretofore the safe working pressure of these classes of lead pipe has decreased as the diameter of the pipe has increased. The principal changes occur in dia meters of 1 in. to 2 in. Alterations made In sizes bo low 1 in. are of minor importance and small in number but have been made to introduce a uniformity which does not now exist among the lead pipe sizes of various manufacturers. It Is not to be expeoted that the transition to the new standard will occur overnight. A period Is necessary to educate the consumers of lead pipe. In the meantime the re Is no objection to the use of current sizes but we would res pectfully suggest that the new standard be used.
