Shell has been asked by the Benzene Health Research Consortium, sponsors of the Shanghai Health Study, to provide a high level briefing about the study to PACE. The briefing would be presented by Patsy Clegg, Shell's representative to the consortium oversight committee, to the VP HSE of PACE. Glenn Gilchrist, Shell's (Glenn, please fill in the blank), has kindly agreed to arrange the meeting and would be in attendance. Following the briefing, we would discuss the desire for a presentation to a larger PACE audience and if PACE would like to continue to receive updates. The consortium would like to brief interested stakeholders that have a need/interest in learning about the study prior to results being published. I have spoken with Glen Gilchrist to clarify what is being requested. Glen has indicated that before we (Shell) goes to PACE to brief them on the study, that we have assurance that Lynn is aware of the study and our plan to brief PACE. We consider this an awareness process; we will certainly honor Lynn's guidance if she chooses to provide it. After giving it some thought, I think that the best way to provide briefing material is to simply use the Shell issues paper on the subject (attached).
