The organization the Asbestos Information Cesaittse of North America, was actually established last fall primarily by Johns ManviUe and Certainteed Corporation. USG was not invited to participate in the formation of the Ceesaittee' Tha Committee was set up to disseminate general information to users of raw asbestos and to counteract the adverse publicity and *seare tacticsB of Dr. Irving Selihoff and his colleagues. The Com-- mlttae will propagandise asbestos* good points and attempt to explain away ,the hazards associated-with that aubatanes. The next meeting of the Information Committee will be in late January and it may expand its memberahip at that time to include such companies as USG, should USG be. interested. Johns Manville has either pledged or given $150,000 to the Con-, mittea to finance euch meetings.
