Find enclosed the results of the samples taken on March 9 and 10. It appears the ventilation changes you made on the
fiber charging elevator and enforcement of good work practices
have paid off.
As per our telephone conversation/ the first two personal and stationary samples had very heavy particulate loading, thus making them hard to count. It is possible, therefore, that the counts are actually slightly higher, however probably still well under the OSHA standard. Mr. Swafford should be alerted to this situation and be instructed to shorten the sample period in the future if the filter begins to look dirty.
Also enclosed is a copy of Dr. Hine's letter on physical examinations for workers with asbestos exposure. Dr. Hine is attempting to standardize the Company's policy on this matter. Of course, your case'is different from other plants in that all your employees should and are receiving exams already; however, you may want to compare the content of the exam recommended by Dr. Hine to that your physician is giving.
