AGREEMENT THIS AGREEMENT is made this 16th day of June, 1976 between Ethyl Corporation, Department of Toxicology and Indus trial Hygiene, 451 Florida, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, hereinafter called "Ethyl" and Dr. Stanley Gross, Hazleton Laboratory, 9200 Leesburg Turnpike, Vienna, Virginia 22180, hereinafter called "Dr. Gross". WITNESSETH WHEREAS, Ethyl wishes Dr. Gross to conduct a study of the Kehoe Balance Studies in Humans as described in the attached proposal; ' WHEREAS, Dr. Gross has approved of and consented to con duct this study; NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of th|e mutual promises hereinafter specified, IT IS AGREED: K 1. Dr. Gross agrees to carry out the btudy described in .i the attached proposal within the limits of his scientific capabilities and the facilities available ta him. 2. Ethyl agrees to pay Dr. Gross the [sum of Five Thousand Two Hundred and Fifty Dollars ($5,250.00) b;or the conduct of this study to be paid in four equal monthly installments of One Thousand Three Hundred Twelve Dollars and Fifty Cents ($1,312.50) commencing May 24, 1976. 3, Ethyl in addition agrees to reimburse Dr* Gross for his reasonable expenditures for computer costs, supplies, art work and a typist clerk for the four (4) months commencing May 24, 1976 provided such expenditures have been approved indi vidually in advance by Dr. G. L. Ter Haar on behalf of Ethyl and are substantiated by invoices submitted to Dr. Ter Haar. 4. Dr. Gross agrees to complete the study in four (4) parts during the four (4) months commencing May 24, 1976 as and in the sequence indicated below: A. A correction of errors in the original data. B. Statistical treatment of the corrected data. C. Interpretation of the data. D . . Preparation of a paper containing the corrected data, the statistical treatment and the inter pretation of the data. 5-. Dr. Gross agrees at the end of the four (4) months as a part of his services- and in consideration of the remuneration set forth in Item 1 to make a written report to Ethyl covering his findings. Dr. Gross agrees that such report and copies thereof may be used by Ethyl as evidence of the findings reported. If the findings are published in a scientific journal, Dr. Gross agrees that Ethyl nevertheless shall be free to quote such findings subsequent to publication. 6. The investigative work shall be planned and carried out by Dr. Gross and Dr. Gross shall have the right to disseminate for the public good any information obtained. Before the issu ance of public reports of scientific publications, the manuscripts however, will be submitted to Ethyl for criticism and suggestion. 7. Dr. Gross for all purposes shall be an independent contractor and not an employee or agent of Ethyl. IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have executed this Agreement. Ter Haar July 12, 1976 Even though I have been in the hospital and have been ' home recuperating, Mrs. Roseleen Allen, my assistant, has . carried on the work of the project under my supervision. She calls me regularly. The keypunching corrections should be complete in a few days. I have also begun the investigation .. of the procedures involved in obtaining the computer plots and will attempt to proceed with a first plot of data as we- agreed.
