Kessler, General Manager General Products Division Owens -Corning Fiberglas Corporation National Bank Building Tole.io 4, Ohio Dear Mr. Kessler: In connection wifh the health hazards of Fibsrglas vs The Asbestos Workers Union, I am in receipt of a telegram from the International President of this union denying us the privilege of presenting our findings to their international convention convening in New Orleans, La. the first week in September. This denial is no reflection on our relationship with this union. The denial was expected, and I am of the opinion that we will profit as a result thereof. The reports from those who have contacted the business agents of the Asbestos Workers Union have been very encouraging on the whole. There are a few spots in the United States where the health aspect question has arisen, and I feel certain that it will be a subject of some discussion at the convention. Insofar as this union is concerned, and particularly the convention, it is a one man show dominated exclusively by International Union Vice President Hugh Mulligan. We have dealt with Mr. Mulligan before to our advantage, and I propose discussing this entire situation with him during the coming week with a view to insure, if possible, that he will while in attendance at the convention, pull the teeth out of any objections that arc raised with respect to the health hazard and premiums. 1 am hopeful that in the interim between now and the convention that the forces presently at work will succeed in decapitating the present Kansas City plant business agsat . Robert Rausch so that he will be prevented from attending the con vention.
