Two technical service requests (R.I.C, and Plymouth) for compatibility of materials with Aroclor 1242 have been completed and one iBXL) is being progressed.
A request from Foster Transformers for quality-testing of used l'yroclor has also been completed.
A complaint from B.I.C.C. on variation of permitivity and excessive dissipation factor of Aroclor 1242 is being investigated.
Visits were made to Bonar Long and Salford Electrical Instruments to advise on plans for changing from mineral oil to Aroclor in capacitors.
Discussions were held with E.R.A. on the possibility of sponsoring work on impregnation and testing of plastic film capacitors. We are now awaiting a firm proposition from them.
Pirelli General Cables at Eastleigh were visited for discussion on Aroclor impregnated cables. More information on toxicity of decomposition products of Aroclor was requested. Technical development of such cables seems to be progressing well.
