Dear Doctor Kehoe: Thank you for your letter of December 9th. I am enclosing a copy of an up-to-date program as there have been some recent changes. As you have stated in your letter-- "The purpose of a standard for the ambient air is to avoid any toxic effect of the absorption of lead and to keep the population within physiologic limits."-- , this is precisely what we would like you to talk about, namely, toxicologic appraisal. It would be highly desirable if you could, of course, draw distinction between physiologic levels and toxicologic levels. In view of the fact that it is essential to discuss toxic manifestations which may ensue when a particular, level of exposure to lead has been exceeded, it is only appropriate that this discussion be entitled "Toxicologic Appraisal".
